Super Sherpas - World Record Mt. Everest Climbers

Apa and Lhakpa Sherpas

the "Super Sherpas"

Apa Sherpa is the only man in history to reach the top of the world 18 times. As the world record holder of the most summits of Everest, Apa is widely recognized to be one of the greatest living mountaineers.

This March, Apa will be attempting his 19th summit!

When Lhakpa Gelu Sherpa set out to set an Everest speed ascent record, little did anyone know he would not only break the late Babu Chirri Sherpa’s Everest speed ascent record of 16 hrs 56, but shatter it altogether with a time of 10 hrs 56 min and 46 sec – 6 hours faster than Babu’s seemingly unbeatable record.

Lhakpa is currently working as a guide with Alpine Accents and will be going to South America to climb this January.

arrow"I wanted to let you know that I have found another new perfect use for Hot Chilly's. Hot Chilly's are perfect for layering when I am riding the motorcycle. I always ride in at least one because it keeps me comfortable. As it gets colder and colder I just add layers of Hot Chilly's. They keep me the perfect temperature at all times."

Daren Wendell - Earth Expeditioner

Born in Canton, Ohio in 1981
  • Daren pursued a college education at Kentucky Christian University graduating in 2003.
  • With a passion for living life to the fullest, Daren has always pursued a life that is marked by adventure. At age 23 Darenplanned and executed a similar endurance challenge when He rode his touring Specific Cannondale Bicycle from the Coast of Oregon ( Astoria, OR) across the United States to VA. Beach. During the 4,400 miles he said “I have never felt more alive”.
  •  Daren has been planning The Earth Expedition since 2006.He has taken steps over the past year to eliminate all of his debt, in order to make this dream become a reality. In addition to eliminating debt he has been able to save enough resources to get the Expedition started.
  • “My biggest fear is to look back on my life and wished I would have lived it differently” hence The Earth Expedition
"Our plan, as of November, I am going to continue walking the United States for a total sum of  5,500 miles.  I will be walking from San Diego,California back to Georgia where it all began, and I will be traversing through harsh terrain often times at terrible temperatures.  We will make a serious grassroots presence in schools and churches all along the way, spreading this story like wildfire.  But when I reach Georgia, the prayer is that another passionate athlete will have already joined the Earth Expedition Team and will be prepared to carry our banner on his/her backpack over to Europe for a time and continue this story for Africa, until another picks up the burden and carries it as well to another country, and so on. The best way to describe it is to think of it somewhat like the carrying of the torch for the Olympic Games.  Only, this is no game. This is a peaceful revolution for social justice.  People run or walk the streets in great numbers for cancer, MS, and diabetes, etc.  Let's walk the world for water, and tell everyone that there is absolutely no need for 6,000 people in Africa to die each day because they lack clean water.  It's just not acceptable."

Molly Baker - Freeskier

arrow"Everything you sent is so warm and feels well made.  I have been choosing my lighter weight outer wear because my under layer now keeps me sufficiently toasty."

Molly has been skiing for 7 years and it has become the focus of her life.  While balancing school and competitions she was inspired by the idea of people getting to enjoy their lives doing the things they love most. Molly is aspiring to work with local organizations to increase local youth involvement of Big Mountain Freeskiing while continuing to compete. She also hopes that by working with multiple photographers that she will be able to capture moments that remind other people why they are passionate about skiing.

"Fun is when your cheeks hurt so much from smiling but it's impossible to wipe it off your face. It's when your heart is pounding from excitement from stepping too close to the edge. It's surfing deep pow on a bluebird day with all your friends!"
